From a students' interview process journal, 2001

"In the few simple years I’ve spend on this earth, I’ve realized that it is good to start small. So many people spend all their time working with the bigger problem before finding a good place to start, of like jumping to what it’s like to be part of our world, instead of: what is it like to be part of our country."

Dear Ms. Michele and Mr. Shetterly,

“… also, you could tell that I was really emotionally touched by Chief Joseph, well, emotionally and mentally, you could tell by my speech to tell my dad and brother: we will fight no more. My friends were getting into a fight and I used his quote that I used in my speech and now they are going to Rob’s website.”                                                  Megan Drybrough

“   Finally, I was shown people of all backgrounds who had made a difference; finally, I had found people who were so normal, who I could relate to, and yet were so profound.

Suddenly, there was no more excuse. In every portrait I saw someone I knew: a sister, a brother, a parent, a teacher, a friend - I found all of them in these portraits, and I saw something that each person I knew could become.”

 Kristen Zoeller,  2009

"I think the americanswhotellthetruth..org website is pretty neat. It's one of the few websites that has art on it that I've enjoyed. I liked how they showed the portraits. I also was happy to see that when i clicked on the portrait, there was a short summary of what that person in the portrait like was like and a quote from them. I found most of the people interesting, especially since I've never heard of some of them and it wasn't someone everyone else knew about. I enjoyed reading the summary about the artist, Robert Shetterly.

I really didn't have a favorite portrait, i liked them all because they all taught me something new. They all looked great and made me look up the people up on the Internet to find out more info about them. The colors on the portrait drawn in my attention and made me want to see more. I LOVED IT!! xD"

"Thank-You for coming in to my class I learned about new people who did something for history. And I never even heard of them until you came to me with this information. Thank-you for sharing it with me."

I JUST WANTED TO TELL YOU THAT THE WEBSITE

AMERICANSWHOTELLTHETRUTH.ORG IS REALLY  AWESOME AND WHOEVER GOES TO THAT SITE THEY SURE ARE GOING TO LEARN SOMETHING ABOUT THOSE PEOPLE LIVES AND WHAT DIFFERENCE THEY MADE.I DO THINK THAT THOSE PEOPLE ARE TRUE HEROES BECAUSE JUST STANDING UP FOR WHAT THEY BELIEVE THAT'S TRULY AMAZING, I MEAN IT REALLY IS.I DO THINK I WOULD HAVE THE  COURAGE TO STAND FOR WHAT I BELIEVE O JUST LIKE THEY DID BECAUSE I ALSO WANT TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THIS WORLD BUT NOT TO BE A HERO TO JUST BE PROUD OF MYSELF.
