Esther Attean, Denise Altvater, and Rob Shetterly at Bates College

Please don't miss this special opportunity to hear Esther Attean and Denise Altvater, two core architects of the Maine Wabanaki-State Child Welfare Truth and Reconciliation Commission,(TRC) speak at Bates College.

Additionally, the painter Robert Shetterly of Americans Who Tell the Truth, will introduce the evening by sharing his portraits of Esther and Denise.


Arla Patch, REACH Community Engagement Coordinator, will share truth about  history, trauma and its impacts and Esther and Denise will discuss the process that led to establishing this historic truth commission, the healing that has begun and REACH's vision for the future of Maine and Wabanaki communities.
