Chris Hedges will speak on the eve of the release of his newest book America:The Farewell Tour.
The Americans Who Tell the Truth project is bringing Mr. Hedges to Blue Hill. Robert Shetterly, who painted Hedges' portrait in 2009, will interview him about his new book and his past writing.
Chris Hedges is one of this country's most outspoken and prominent critics of corporate, media and military power and how they have diminished both the reality and possibility of democracy.  In his many books and his weekly column for Truthdig.com  he has tried to alert Americans to the urgency of the damage being done to our political and environmental future by the elites.
Among Hedges' many books are: War is a Force that Gives us Meaning; Empire of Illusion; Days of Destruction, Days of Revolt;  Death of the Liberal Class; Losing Moses on the Freeway.
Chris Hedges' appearance is being co-sponsored by Blue Hill Books (books will be available for signing), WERU, Reversing Falls Sanctuary, Peninsula Peace and Justice, Island Peace and Justice,  Veterans for Peace,  and Peninsula Indivisible.
The event is free and open to the public. Donations to Americans Who Tell the Truth will be accepted.
