Here’s a fun graphic essay by cartoonist Eleri Harris depicting some highlights in the history of International Women’s Day.

And since it all started with a protest of women demanding radical social and economic justice, we’re honoring all who have championed a woman’s right to earn a living and be treated as an equal citizen.  Leading the way are these three fierce women – AWTT portrait subjects Emma Tenayuca, Ai-jen Poo, and Pauli Murray.
